The Waverley Blues are proud to announce Chris Goldstraw as our inaugural coach for our first Women's football team for season 2017!

Chris is well known to the Blues having being involved with the club for over 17 years after making his debut in the under 12s in 1999 (the Waverley Blues first year in existence). After his Junior career at the Blues he moved onto to play over 50 games with us, including the 2015 Reserves Premiership.

Importantly Chris also brings to this new role a wealth of coaching experience including over 10 years coaching sport at Caulfield Grammar School (Wheelers Hill Campus) and stints with Camp Australia and overseas with International Sports Training. Chris is currently a Primary School Teacher at Park Hill, and will start a new teaching role in 2017 at Mt View Primary School. He will be working closely with all of coaches, in particular our coaching director Bryce McGain and fellow Youth Girls coaches (U12s & U16s).

Other key achievements:

  • Most goals in a 50th game (7 in 2015) - see album here
  • Biggest crowd attendance in a 50th game (2015)
  • WBFC Social Coordinator 2013-14
  • Back Up Reserves Goal Umpire 2016 (following a knee injury) - see Goal Umpire Special Album

Please make Chris feel welcome in his new role and show him the support you did through his 2015 glory years!

Importantly, we now need to build up player numbers and support staff for our teams - please let the Club or Chris know directly if interested in playing or supporting the team.

We also have our Women's and Youth Girls information session on Monday 19th December 2016 at the Club Rooms. For more info click here:
