Coaching Announcement 2015

We are pleased to announce that Nathan McCulloch will be coach of the Waverley Blues Under 19’s for season 2015.

Nathan (Nutta) has become a cult figure at the Blues since his arrival from Tasmania in 2013. As one of the key senior players for the Blues going forward, we see this as a great result for the Under 19 boys to have him as their mentor.

Nathan came to the Waverley Blues from Tasmanian in 2013 after playing for North Hobart Demons in the TFL. He represented Tasmanian in the Under 18 national championships in 2011 and played senior football as a 16 year old for North Hobart.

Nathan is currently studying sports science at Deakin University and has passion for the game. He couldn't be more excited about taking on this group of young footballers and is determined to get the best out of them all and see them get the best opportunity to play at the best level they can. As a club we are extremely happy with this appointment and for Nathan to get underway.

Nathan does spend the summer back home with his family and will be back in Melbourne in February to take the reins. In the meantime Nathan will be actively speaking to all the boys and introducing himself to those that don’t know him. Because of this, we found it important to have a strong support staff around him and can also make the following announcements.

Assistant Coach – Ben Turner
Ben is another senior player and current Vice Captain. Ben came to us from Balwyn (EFL Div 1) last year after playing in 2 x Premiership sides with the Tigers. His experience will be invaluable to the boys.

Assistant Coach – Brett Miller
Brett has been a long tome supporter of the Blues and his companies D-Tech and Construction Concept Labour are main sponsors of the club. Brett also has a passion for the game and his son Broden will also join the Blues 19’s in 2015, who we see as a big recruit for the team.

Specialist / Skills Coach – Craig Lidgerwood
Most of the boys will already know Craig as he has been with the group throughout their years as juniors. Craig is excited to come on board to help Nathan where he can and Craig’s son Kyle will also be a key part of the team.

Specialist / Skills Coach – Paul Savage
Paul is our current senior captain and is a 2 time Premiership player for the blues and has been a Part of the club furniture since he was a kid. He has also won 2 senior best and fairest. Again his experience will be a huge plus for the group.

We are also lucky enough to have the help of Michael Watkin during the pre-season and during the year. Michael has been involved at the club for many years in the juniors and his son Darcy will be one of the leaders of the team coming through as the former Captain of the Under 17’s.

As a club we a couldn't be happier with the group assembled to lead the Under 19’s for 2015 and we look forward to a successful 2015 season.
