AROUND THE GROUNDS 2017 MATCH REVIEWS
The Waverley Blues are a club with a proud tradition with junior teams entered in every age group from under 9s to under 17s, including new youth girls teams. In 2015 we launched our new Junior Football Academy let by past Australian cricket player and highly qualified coach Bryce McGain (read more about this program below).
We strive to be a top class sporting outlet to play, learn and enjoy all aspects of Football, Club and Community life, while providing an atmosphere to encourage the achievement of personal, family and community goals for Members. We provide equal playing opportunities for players of all skill levels. Our goal is to provide a family environment where players develop from our Auskick programs to Senior Footballers
The Waverley Blues encourages local boys and girls to participate in the local Auskick Clinics. Auskick provides an excellent opportunity for players to develop their skills and complement training received from the Waverley Blues.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL ACADEMY
(ACADEMY VIDEO BELOW)
A key area of focus for the Committee has been to undertake a review of the Football Operations of the Waverley Blues Junior programs. The sole purpose of the review was to identify opportunities, needs, where / how we can improve and implement a strategy for the benefit of all stakeholders at the Club i.e. players, coaches, key support staff, parents, sponsors and the community.
In line with the strategic direction of the Club the Executive Committee joined with Bryce McGain and his organisation the McGain Group P/L regarding the development of a "Club Player Development Pathway Program”. The program is tailored towards the Club’s individual needs to ensure we are providing both our coaches and our players every opportunity to optimise their Waverley Blues Football Club experience. This Club Player Development Pathway Structure is “fully inclusive” i.e. it is going to be tailored to accommodate for players of ALL skill levels, plus coaches and key support staff (etc).
Bryce and his team will be instrumental in developing, implementing and driving this program. The program will encompass the following - kicking clinics (incl. an elite kicking program), development squads and utilisation of the latest electronic coaching aids. In short, the Committee is committed to providing our players / kids with the best possible football club learning environment we can create. Quite simply, “we want the Waverley Blues Junior FC to be the Club of choice in the Waverley area (and beyond)”!
Bryce is very passionate about the Club and its vision. He is an outstanding coach and last season coached the U17's to the A Grade Premiership, the U’15’s to the B Grade Premiership in 2015 and prior to that has coached the Waverley Blues at U’13 and U’14 levels. Bryce has been involved in sport as a player at international level representing Australia in Test Cricket, performance coaching and running elite tailored sports programs for a variety of organisations. He and his organisation possess the skills, expertise and experience prerequisites to assist the Club in this direction.
